Two reports have been published from the project Nordic textile reuse and recycling commitment, the first in 2014 and the second in 2015.
The first report looks into four topics relevant for the development of Nordic textile reuse and recycling commitment:
- Mapping of actors in the downstream management of textiles
- Traceability of global textile flows
- Operational and best practice standards in collection, sorting,
reuse and recycling of textiles and management of textile wastes
- Comparison with waste management of other waste streams

Towards a new Nordic textile commitment: Collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of textiles
The second report The Nordic textile commitment: A proposal of a common quality requirement system for textile collection, sorting, reuse and recycling covers the main principles of the voluntary commitment and its Code of Conduct. A certification and system operation document covers criteria for the operation and development of the certification system that comes with the Code of Conduct including fees and audits. This report is the main pillar for the ongoing implementation of the Nordic textile commitment. A policy brief was also published together with the main report.
Reports from the two other projects within the Green Growth Initiative: A Nordic strategy for collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of textiles and An extended producer responsibility (EPR) system and new business models, can be downloaded here:
